Ingredients:
- 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (240ml) warm water
- 2 1/4 tsp (7g) active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp (9g) salt
- 1 tbsp (12g) honey
- 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, and salt.
- Stir in the warm water, honey, and melted butter. Mix with a wooden spoon until a shaggy, sticky dough forms and no dry flour remains.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rest in a warm, draft-free spot for 2 to 3 hours until doubled in size.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a rectangle.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces using a bench scraper or knife.
- Roll each piece into a cylinder shape for hoagie rolls or a smooth ball for slider rolls.
- Place rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet with 2 inches of space between them and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Gently brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until the tops are mahogany-colored and the bottoms sound hollow when tapped.
- Cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
